Okay dads, its time to dust off the Class A’s and get your daughters ready for a night out; because the Fort Leonard Wood Protestant Women of the Chapel and the post family life chaplain is putting together the perfect father/daughter date.

The annual PWOC Father Daughter Dance is scheduled for 6 to 10 p.m., Feb. 13, at Nutter Field House. Tickets are $3 and available through company first sergeants and the Information, Ticketing and Registration office. Photographs will be taken by two professional photographers, beginning at 5 p.m., and photos will be available before the end of the evening.

In its fourth year, April Kroenke, event co-chairperson said the dance has been a big success each year.

“When it (the dance) was first starting, it was envisioned that it would be a way for a father to escort his daughter, which would provide him with the opportunity to show and explain what should happen on a proper date,” Kroenke said.

“We (want) to help provide opportunities for families to have time together and make some wonderful memories,” Kroenke said.

Not only do organizers encourage dads to bring their daughters, they also encourage ladies and their fathers of all ages to attend.

“This event is also multi-generational, meaning that a mom might have her father come into town to attend the dance while her husband escorts their own daughter to the dance. Three generations at one event,” Kroenke said.

“This is also a great way for a father and daughter to spend some quality time together,” she said.

“It does not matter what age the daughter is, we have had them as young as a few weeks old attend before,” she continued. “This is just a really great event for a father and daughter to get all dressed up and have their picture taken, dance together (and) have the one-on-one time together.”

If a dad is unavailable to bring his daughter to the dance, grandfathers or other male role models are also welcome to bring the special young ladies in their lives.
