The Bruce C. Clarke Library and Department of Defense military libraries are announcing the launch of a free, online tutoring service for all service members and their families.

The site — www.tutor.com/military — offers round-the-clock professional tutors who can assist with homework, studying, test preparation, resume writing and more.

As you may already know, the Tutor.com service, (one-to-one tutoring and career help) for K-12 students, is still available through Child and Youth Services links on MilitaryOneSource.com and MyArmyOneSource.com.

Seeing the value, Defense Department officials decided to expand the service to encompass all service members and their families and students, from kindergarten to college, and adult learners.

The DoD it is paying for unlimited Tutor.com service for all active-duty military service members, reservists, National Guard personnel on active-duty in a deployed status, and DoD civilians in a deployed status.

The program covers all military dependents, including spouses and children and is available 24/7.

To register for access Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine service members or their family members should go to www.tutor.com/military for a link to their service.

Along with test preparation, the site is open to students of any age for one-on-one help in math, science, social studies and English. In addition you can get and English tutor to proof your paper or essay.

Inside the College and Career Centers you will find career to include a review of your resume, job search assistance, and interview prep. You can work with a tutor in real-time to get help in writing resumes and cover letters. Your tutor edits you resume on screen and reviews all edits with you.

Other adult services include financial literacy, helping children with homework and citizenship test assistance.

Tutor.com’s network includes more than 1,800 professional tutors and career specialists who have delivered more than 5 million one-on-one tutoring sessions since 2001, officials said. Each tutor is certified through the site, and all sessions are recorded for quality control.

The Skills Resource Library contains online links to thousands of worksheets, tutorials and study guides. This includes the various state standardized tests.

Math includes elementary math, algebra I and II, geometry, trigonometry, calculus and statitistics. Science includes earth science, biology, chemistry, and physics. English includes vocabulary, grammar, literature and a writing center.

Each student can chat with their tutor, draw on the interactive whiteboard, share and edit files and browse the Web together.

For more information, call the library at 563.4113.

The Bruce C. Clarke Library will be closed for President’s Day, Feb. 15.
